A very brief verbal sketch of myself: I am husband to a loving wife and father to two wonderful children (one stepson and one baby daughter). My family is everything to me. I am at once proud and humbled to be in their lives. I am a Christian in the Holy Orthodox Church, having been baptized in February 2004. In spite of certain spiritual struggles, my faith in Jesus Christ is what defines me and animates my life: religiously, emotionally, culturally, intellectually, etc.
Politically speaking, I have settled down on the “Right” side of the American political spectrum. I am firmly convinced that free markets are a necessary, though by no means sufficient, condition for personal liberty and prosperity, and that government should be small, constrained, and decentralized. I am pro-life, but that for me includes not only opposition to abortion but capital punishment, euthanasia and war as well. I do take a few “left-leaning,” or libertarian, positions however: I favor decriminalizing marijuana, and while I personally uphold traditional marriage, I have no problem with granting full civil protections to same-sex couples.
Literature, music, traveling, cooking, camping, and good conversation are just a few aspects of life from which I draw tremendous satisfaction and joy. And I am a committed oenophile.
